The new Educational Learning Center was designed to serve students within the Independent School District #911, specifically the alternative learning center (ALC), transitions, and setting IV programs. The entire facility serves about 175 students with a 50-student capacity in setting IV.
The setting IV space was designed through an involved and collaborative process encompassing district administration and stakeholders within the Special Education Department.
The setting IV is separated from the main entry for security and scheduling purposes. The setting IV program is organized into two K-12 groups, one for students with behavioral issues, and the other with communications/autism spectrum disorders. There are multiple classrooms in each group which supports different grade groupings.
