The City of Cottage Grove wanted to develop a more robust design for a park facility to support community use. The vision was to create an interpretive center that would be used by all ages and provide education and meeting space in a park setting. The facility includes a lobby with restrooms that is large enough to be used as a warming house and for wall space for interpretive images of the local geology and prairie ecosystem. Flanking this lobby is a classroom for parks programs and education opportunities and a large multi-purpose room overlooking the park that can be used flexibly for large meetings and gatherings. Included in this building is space for parks storage and the ice resurfacer to support the remainder of the park.
