The Burnhaven Library additions and remodel included reorganized space and a 1,200-square-foot meeting room and licensing center addition. At the time, extending government services to libraries was a relatively new trend. Dakota County hired Wold to conduct a study of the Burnhaven Library to include expanded library services to include licensing.
The County and library staff had big dreams of something completely new, and Wold was proud to bring those ideas to life with this expansion and remodel project. The overall project goals included updates to the interior imagery and finishes, as well as reorganization of the library to be more efficient and inviting. In collaboration with the County and library staff, Wold created a plan to create focal points and areas of interest for the children and teens’ areas. The additional meeting room was beneficial to staff and patrons alike as it provided an engaging collaboration and presentation space. In reconfiguring the stacks, back offices, and circulation desk, the space became more efficient and easier to navigate. A new entrance, lobby, and exterior gave the building a new identity.
