To fulfill Ortonville Area Health Services’ mission to increase quality of life and quality of care for residents, the Fairway View Senior Communities began as a successful moratorium exception application to replace their aging care center. The new facility is a 51-bed care center that follows a “cottage” concept, where each cottage houses 17 residents. Designed with residential scale in mind, each cottage has an activity kitchen, living room, and dining room that reduces travel distances and empowers resident independence.
The facility emphasizes the continuum of care. Patients remain in the same facility even if they need additional care, whether nurses bring assistance to them or move them to a space that better fulfills their needs. The cottage design enhances this continuum, minimizing transportation time and increasing resident to staff interaction.
The new care center will join the Fairway View Senior Communities continuum of care campus. A town center, including a theater, library, and café, serves as the heart of the campus and welcomes residents and visitors.
