Hennepin County 911 is a modern facility that maximizes the reliability of communications, staffing efficiencies, and operating expenses by collocating three integral functions comprising the countywide public safety communications enterprise. These functions include the 911 Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), which provides dispatch services for a population of 400,000, the Critical Infrastructure Radio and Data Network Center connected to a communications tower, and the Radio Systems Operations and Technical Services, which designs and maintains emergency and County radio systems.
The critical essence of Hennepin 911 requires its continuous operation. The facility can protect its occupants—people and technology—from severe weather events while remaining in a welcoming environment to work year-round. With completely redundant mechanical and electrical systems, the building complies with modern building codes and utilizes an energy-efficient geothermal heating and cooling plant.
