The project evolved into a major addition of a new high school on the existing building to take advantage of shared spaces and promote greater program connection for students during transitional years.
The design team prioritized the creation of spaces that would allow for multiple styles of learning to occur. Lecture-based classroom delivery was one form, but the design team also wanted to prepare students for a college experience, give them opportunities to work collaboratively, and enhance programming opportunities between the high school and middle school. Every part of the design worked to eliminate the traditional school design of double-loaded corridors in favor of flexible spaces to provide students a variety of options for learning.
