Wold assisted with pre-referendum planning in anticipation of a new elementary school to accommodate the District's rapidly growing enrollment.
The result, Hickory Grove Elementary School was guided by input from the District's core planning group and is intended to embody their objectives for providing educational opportunities.
The facility accommodates Pre-K/Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) through fifth grade and provides for clustered grade-level configuration. Each cluster is organized around interconnected shared resource areas, which allows the building to be adaptable when grade-level populations fluctuate.
Natural daylight is emphasized throughout the building by clerestory and skylights. Materials utilized throughout were chosen thoughtfully to strike a balance between colorful, visual stimulation and durability appropriate to the learning environments.
