Huerfano Secondary School Replacement

The Huerfano School District Re-1 hired Wold to reimagine the original 1970s John Mall High School into a new and inspiring home for The Pride of the Panthers. The original building faced critical structural concerns and needed to be updated to better align with the school’s rich performing arts and Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs.

The new three-story school serves grades 7-12 and is the largest and tallest building in town. Additionally, the building was turned to face the mountains to further emphasize the design which thoughtfully pays homage to the Spanish Peaks for which the area is known and includes new outdoor recreational and instructional areas. This was a Building Excellent Schools Today (BEST) Grant-funded school project.
