As part of the Building a Better Future Initiative, Wold partnered with Osseo School District to design a new elementary school to accommodate growth on the West side of the District.
The design is focused on 21st-century learning and creating collaborative learning and teaching spaces. Classroom-level learning occurs in learning studios that include flexible learning areas and moveable glass walls that generate a sense of openness to foster collaboration and team teaching. Each Learning Studio includes a makerspace and access to an outdoor learning patio, offering facilities that support project-based learning. Grade levels are organized around a central Media Commons that acts as a gathering space for the entire school. A state-of-the-art athletic facility supports the school’s physical education needs with four gymnasium stations with operable divider walls for large and small class flexibility. It will also support community tournaments. The layout of the site separates parent pick-up and bus drop-off areas to maximize efficiency. The site also features two play areas to accommodate younger and older students, as well as an outdoor classroom and ample green space.
