Our team was engaged by Lake County to design a new Regional Operations and Communications (ROC) Facility for its Libertyville campus. After years of planning and research, construction of the facility commenced in July of 2023. This 37,426-square-foot facility will house a consolidated Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP), the County’s Emergency Management Agency and staff and state-of-the-art technology to coordinate resources, information and emergency communications all under one roof.
On average, there are 85,000 emergency calls every year in Lake County, with 7,000 of those requiring mutual aid from surrounding agencies. Within this new facility, participating agencies will have an unprecedented opportunity for seamless information sharing and collaboration between first responders. With less call transfers, valuable minutes can be saved and can lead to faster emergency responses. Construction is anticipated to complete by December 2024, with the building set to open in 2025.
