Meadow Ridge Elementary is a new school serving 700 PreK-fifth grade students from the Wayzata School District. Designed as a split entry that provides access to both floors and modernizes safety measures, the facility clusters five classrooms and a specialized kindergarten classroom around a shared resource area that extends learning from the classrooms. Movable glass walls in the shared resource areas generate a sense of openness to foster collaboration. The design also dedicates spaces for preschool as well as before and after school programs.
A next-generation media center positioned as a commons off the main entrance features a technology bar for students. The light-filled cafeteria doubles as a gathering space for large groups and the gymnasium features a regulation-sized basketball court with operable divider walls for large and small class flexibility.
The layout of the site separates parent pick-up and bus drop-off areas to maximize efficiency, and the site features an outdoor playfield, softball field, and hard and soft play areas.
