Wold was selected by the State’s Designer Selection Board to perform a pre-design and design for this project in 2011. It took until October 2020 for the Legislature to approve funding for the project and because our contract had expired, Wold needed to re-propose and interview for the project and was rehired. The project went through design while the existing State Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was activated for 459 consecutive days in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Additionally, unanticipated inflation created additional pressures on the project. After cutting the project many times, the Legislature appropriated more funding in the 2023 session and the project has finally entered the construction phase.
