As part of the district-wide effort to modernize media centers into Learning Commons as well as address significant growth in enrollment, Otter Lake Elementary School had its media center renovated and 5 new classrooms built. The media center, now learning commons was opened up to the adjacent circulation space, expanded, and incorporates numerous student-centered small group rooms, flexible furniture, and innovative technology to foster student collaboration. The classroom addition provides much needed capacity relief for the District as well as creating an innovative learning environment centered around personalized learning. The design of the project builds on the concepts of nature and water elements with a learning tree, transparency representing water elements, and natural colors in the materials.
