As a part of the Building a Better Future initiative, the District’s comprehensive facilities plan included enrollment and capacity management, K-12 next-generation learning spaces safety and security, and athletics facilities. Wold collaborated with the District to develop a design that would meet the needs of the District by adding additions to the Rice Lake Elementary School.
The classroom addition was completed in the Spring of 2022 and includes five (5) flexible classrooms, an active lab, and small group rooms organized around a centralized collaboration area. The next-generation learning spaces are designed to meet the criteria of accessing as much natural light as possible and to create a grade-level community through flexible furniture, passive supervision, and shared collaboration areas.
The project also includes a single-station gym addition that meets the storm shelter requirement for the school.
