Wold was selected for survey and design improvements for a 12 mile section of roadway from the State Route 109 Bypass in Gallatin, Tennessee to State Route 52 in Portland, Tennessee.
Upon completion of preliminary plans, the project was divided into three right-of-way and construction projects. The southernmost 5.2 mile section was designed as a four lane median divided roadway on a new alignment. Scaling the Highland Rim between Gallatin and Portland, the project included deep cuts and fills. Plans for right-of-ways, grading, and paving were issued in phases. Construction began in 2009 with the aid of funding through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. The middle section consisted of 4.3 miles of four-lane divided highway from Hollis Chapel Road to SR 76. Curbs, gutters, and sidewalks were included in 2.1 miles of the five-lane northernmost section. It also included a signalized intersection at SR 76.
