Hastings Independent School District partnered with Wold to renovate their historic Todd Field at Hastings High School. These renovations provided needed upgrades to the field, surrounding structures and improved overall visitor experience.
The District saw the need for improvements at Todd Field. The existing grass field was becoming difficult to maintain and the school needed a surface that would create a multi-use facility. The District needed a turf field to create a more durable field that would match the quality of surrounding schools. Working with coaches, school board members, and the community Wold was able to prioritize the needs and determine how to address them.
The project included improvements at several spaces at Todd Field. The existing grass field was replaced with synthetic turf. Putting the turf down was the day that completely transformed the space and created a strong sense of community pride. The concessions and toilet building was renovated to bring the amenities of a modern concessions facility. These changes provide increased food production as well as health department compliance assurance. The toilet building improved the cleanliness and comfort of the space and added handicap accessibility. A new ticketing entrance building provided the ability to manage a variety of types of events by being able to supervise and manage the entry aspect. The facility could be managed without an onsite manager with the addition of cameras and card readers. Overall, the updates maintained the integrity of this historic field while simultaneously upgrading the facility to be a space that can be used by the entire community.
