In 1970, White Bear Lake Area Schools constructed a second high school to serve their growing community. In 1980, they re-configured the two buildings into a 9-10/11-12 split campus in response to budget pressures. This configuration, which separated the grades by four miles, has stood for over 35 years.
In 2018, the District sought to change their unusual high school setup and bring the grade organization into a 9-12 alignment. The District choose Wold to facilitate that process for them. With the successful 2017 referendum, the facilities plan will unify the District’s high school programs on a state-of-the-art, comprehensive grade 9-12 high school. In addition, the plan will improve facilities across the District. Each building will be brought into alignment with the District's vision. Wold has been instrumental in forming and facilitating the 90-person community task force and is facilitating all of the design work to implement the $326 million referendum plus $50 million in long-term facilities maintenance (LTFM).
