WinnMed partnered with Wold Architects and Engineers to design an improved experience for patients, visitors, and care team members with an expanded Outpatient Center, an expanded Surgery Center, and a reconfigured and renovated Mother Baby Center. The innovative design is one that focuses on the future of patient care that includes flexible spaces, “Disney” on/off stage planning, technology-driven registration/scheduling, and building systems and materials that are sustainable.
Our partnership with WinnMed began with a Master Facilities Plan that has evolved alongside the community of Decorah, as well as the care delivery adaptations and learnings through care delivery after COVID. The collaborative planning process led to connections with stakeholders across the organization, local community members, as well as regional sustainability focused associations to develop the right project outcomes to support WinnMed’s vision for the future of care delivery.
As our partnership shifted its focus to design, the WinnMed, Wold, and Graham Construction Team embraced a Lean approach by integrating the appropriate mindset and a 3P event into the process. The design outcomes for each of the departments have the ownership of the leaders, providers, and front line team members alike, while integrating a patient-centered approach to improving the experience for all users of the WinnMed campus facilities.
