Our team was hired by the Zion-Benton Township High School District 126 for a phased rollout of projects as part of a larger master plan for the District to refresh and reimagine its learning spaces to enhance the learning experience for all students. The projects were phased to ensure the completion of Phase 1A, which included educational spaces, prior to the beginning of the 2023-24 school year in August. Phase 1A included refreshes of finishes, technology and furniture, as well as a media classroom to support the school newspaper and yearbook club.
Phase 1B, completed in December 2023, included the renovation of existing space to consolidate District Administration functions previously scattered throughout the building, create a formal Board Room for community meetings and a Technology Hub for students to access during the day for resource and tech support. The timing of Phase 1B allowed for the demolition and construction of Phase 2 to begin immediately after winter break.
Phase 2 is targeted for completion in August 2024 and will include a new multi-tier student support suite with resource offices, study halls and support classrooms as well as a new departmental grouping for English learners and newcomers to the District.
