In 2016, Spring Lake Park Schools passed a referendum that included funding for a new elementary school. Throughout the design process, the District’s the design team developed the following goals:
Create spaces that celebrate the learning process and put it on display
Create flexible, adaptable spaces
Design learning environments that support multiple styles of learning
Provide a facility that encourages the use of shared resources
They have taken this opportunity to design the project to support their forward-thinking educational program. The project’s design is centered around the idea of flexible learning. Learning studios accommodate individual, small group, large group and multiple-class learning spaces that are easily integrated or separated. The building is organized around a commons and learning commons core that act as shared space for the school and community to gather.
